CAREER COUNSELING Overview
Recognizing the critical need for career guidance, our partner, SVCT in collaboration with Bhavishyath Counselling, started the career counseling program in Srikakulam District, A.P. Through a successful proof of concept in 2021 and subsequent implementations since 2022, we have already impacted over 10,000 students across various schools and colleges in the district.
Project Details
SVCT’s collaboration with Bhavishyath has enabled it to take the lead in independently conducting career guidance sessions while receiving invaluable support and training from Bhavishyath. It has successfully covered over 10,000 students across government high schools, junior colleges, and other educational institutions in Srikakulam district. Through this initiative, we are providing comprehensive career guidance to students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that no one is left behind in their pursuit of a fulfilling career.
Since 2017, Bhavishyath has been committed to its project, working diligently to uplift the lives of underprivileged students. Through a focus on education, they have reached and impacted a significantly large number of students, enriching their lives and opening doors to a better future.
Target Area and Beneficiary Population
The project targeted Srikakulam district, benefiting students from 9th grade to Intermediate 2nd year in approximately 92 educational institutions.
This project has empowered students with the necessary knowledge and guidance to make informed career choices while enhancing the capacity and expertise of SVCT staff in providing effective career counseling services.
Key Objectives
Organize in-depth career guidance activities, such as online sessions and career fairs, to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
Make a tangible difference in the lives of students by providing personalized support and assistance in overcoming barriers to achieving their career goals.
Outputs and Outcomes
- Conducted in-classroom career guidance workshops for approximately 10000+ students in Srikakulam district, with 50+ sessions conducted.
- In the academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24 a total of 1400 students received personalized guidance and support through follow-up 1-1 calls, ensuring their individual needs were addressed effectively. Priority was given to students who demonstrated interest in the session and those who proactively engaged with SVCT through follow-up interactions.
- Conducted online career sessions to offer additional guidance on specific career paths and opportunities.
- Organized a Career Fair to connect students with professionals, facilitating informed career decisions.
